He will compete in the Northern California Cham- j pionship, August 19. in Salt Lake City. Benny Moore lost . a split decision. "This was Moore's second fight. Benny had a knockdown in the second round' stated Keith Harrison, who is one of the directors of the Vernal Boxing Club. David Giese, 113, and Carl Christensen, 131, lost unanimous deicisons. Bill Allen, 154, was defeated in the second round on a TKO and Mike Lewis, 110, lost on a TKO in the first round. "Giese really showed a lot of courage. He is going to be a top-notch fighter," stated Harrison. Harrison added, "Our Vernal boys are green, bur Sergeant Gale McCurty, PAL director, said that after the Vernal Boxing Club members get training and experience, they will have a top-notch boxing club." Larry Harrison will fight Billy Cook of Sacramento, Calif., in the Northern California Boys' Club championship tournament, August 19 in Sacramento, Calif., in the 70 pound class. Cook has won 12 fights in a row and Harrison has won ten straight matches. Harrison is eight years old and he has been fighting since he was three years old. He has a record of 33 wins and 21 losses. He has eight TKOs. Fighters from all over the United States will compete in the tournament in California. Harrison has had ten fights this summer. He has competed in fights in such places as Hayden, Colo.; Ogden, Tooele, Grantsville, Orem and Salt Lake City. Harrison won a fight in February on a TKO. "His last fight with Geno Montoya in Salt Lake City was one of his best bouts. He doggone near had a knockdown in the second round. . He (Larry) comes out like a tiger. He stays right on his opponent all the time and he keeps throwing punches and doesn't back up. The announcers call him 'No-Reverse-Larry'. He uses his left and right jabs, hooks and straight punches," stated Keith Harrison |
