Show Annual "Dam Dance" held at Flaming Gorge Square dancers from Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Pennsylvania met Friday and Saturday for two days of dancing, fun, and fellowship. The Annual "Dam" dance started at the Flaming Gorge Lodge with Fred Brown calling. July 7 Clarence Estrage called for the dancers at the Flaming Gorge Dam Visitors Center Parking lot. Among those dancing were the members of the Dutch John Square Dancers Club, the Dinah Dancers, Vernal; the Curly Q's Roosevelt, and many others. A farewell luncheon was held July 9 at the Flaming Gorge Lodge in honor of Jackie Twiss and Doris Combs. There were 22 women in attendance and two children. A brief good-by was given by both Jackie and Doris. Hostesses were Carolyn Anderson, Marcia Barber, and Ann Yates. The Daggett County School Board held their monthly meeting July 9 at 8 p.m. at the Flaming Gorge School in Dutch John. The U.S. Forest Service, Flaming Gorge District is having a farewell pot-luck pot-luck barbecue dinner July 13. The party wiU start" at B:iu p.m. at the Red Canyon Duplex Picnic area. Everyone is to bring their own steaks, hamburgers, ham-burgers, hot dogs and trimmings and their own beverages. Charcoal, grills, pop and ice will be furnished. Families whose last names begin with A through M bring salad; N through Z brine a dessert." Seasonal or single persons may bring pickles, chips, olives, dips, butter, rolls, etc. A program involving anyone and . everyone who has a story to tell about either Johns, anything you would like passed on about or concerning either or both, to help make this a party they will remember. There will be a baby shower for Sondra Shipton July 13 at the Conference Con-ference Hall from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All women of the area are invited. Refreshments will be furnished. Hostesses for the shower are the ladies of Dutch John. The shower is for Keith and Sondra's new baby girl. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Beach and Cheir daughter, Heather, visited their nephew, Bruce and Jackie Schmidt. The Beach family is. from Salisbury, Rhodesia, South Africa. Al Charrett traveled to Ostin, Colorado for a visit with her daughter Pat Fogg and children. Traveling with her was Guy Fogg. He was returning home after a visit with his grand- parents. Gerald M. and Celia Hill of Battle Mountain, Nevada are in town for a couple of weeks. The Hills are grandparents grand-parents to Sandy Collett. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rogers of Oak-creek, Oak-creek, Colorado are in town visiting their son and his family, Bill and Connie Rogers. Jay and Randy Cornaby spent last weekend in Spanish Fork where their daughter, Carla, was baptized. Donna Collett, grandmother to Carla was also present for the baptism. Nile and Char Belcher, aunt and uncle of Donna Collett are here for a few days visiting the Collett family. The Belchers are from Long Beach, California. Dale Cornaby and his family from Lake Shore are here visiting his brother, Jay Cornaby and family. Tera Collett celebrated her third birthday last Saturday. House guest of John and Jackie Twiss last week was Gerry Stone of Redmond, Oregon. Jan Adams and her children, Jimmy and Beckie, were in town Sunday and Monday. The Adams are former residents of Dutch John. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Roberts and their four children of Long Beach, California were in town visiting the Collett family. Diane Roper and Tharyna Daniels are here from Bountiful visiting friends in the Dutch John area. Jim and Hazel Overy of Rock Springs are staying at the Flaming Gorge Meadows for a couple weeks. |
