Show Barricade signing to help Main Street detour At a meeting held Friday by Vernal City and Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce Com-merce it was agreed to permit signing at the barricade entrances of Vernal 's Main Street detours designating locked out businesses and routes to travel to get to these businesses. Representatives of the city and the chamber met with John Keyes, project engineer, Utah Department of Transportation and Lee Hansen, project pro-ject superintendent for J. M. Sumsion and Sons and decided to permit signing and allow traffic through the barricades bar-ricades at the East entrance of 5th South and 5th East and Main. Signing would also permit traffic between the barricades at 10th West and 7th West. The signs would also inform tourists of businesses on the 1st North detour route through Vernal. Businesses located on both ends of the 12-block Main Street reconstruction project and those on the north side of Main Street have complained that they have been closed off to traffic because of barricades and detour signing designating 1st South and 5th South as the Highway 40 route through Vernal. |
