Show Police blotter Since June 25 the Vernal City Police Department has reported fifteen vehicle accidents, seven involving the new signs for the main street detour. At 8:05 p.m. July 4 Steven Greg Shipman failed to stop while traveling south on North Vernal Ave. Shipman collided with Mark Steven Van Wagner who was driving an AMC Pacer west on First North. Damages to the Shipman pickup totaled $500 and $1,000 to the Van Wagner vehicle. Other accidents reported by the department were only minor except for an accident involving two motorcyclists motor-cyclists and an out-of-state motorist. (See other story.) Arrests made by the Vernal City Police were Arthur Leslie Melton, July 4 and William John Morrow for driving while intoxicated. Ronald Gene Alston was arrested for insulting a female July 8, and Martin Lane Fletcher was arrested for assault the same day. Harold and Esther Roberts of Denver visited at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs."Buggs" (Linda) Baker over the 4th of July holiday. holi-day. Their grandson, Jimmy Baker, returned to Denver with them for a visit. While here the Roberts and Bakers visited Flaming Gorge area and fished in Pelican Lake for Bass. |
