Show Vernal cowboys, cowgirls net honors The 4th of .July week is traditionally the biggest in the sport of rodeo and this year was no exception. The Ft. Bridger, Wyoming. Rodeo on July 3 and 4 started things off. Cindy Young, Vernal, was named all-around cowgirl. She won the barrel racing both days and placed second and fourth in the goat tying. Dick Moore and Kenny Price placed third in the team roping on July 3, and Ann and Rex Petersen netted fourth, l.ori and Kristy McNeill placed second and fourth in the barrel race, and Loni Cordova nabbed second on July 4. Rudy Cordova captured first place in i the bareback bronc riding contest in the annual Neola Rodeo, which was held on ! .Inly 4. Dennis Fleming and Lynn Cuch tied for second and third. First place in the saddle bronc riding contest was won by Max Jensen and Lynn Cuch placed second. Hal Winterton won the calf roping, and the team of Rex and Tom Petersen won the team roping crown. Erv Wilkins and D.J. Reynolds placed second. The bull riding first place was won by Dennis Fleming. Kent Morris garnered second place. Bobette Warren darted 17.9 for first place in the open barrels, and Patsy Mocha m won second place. Lori McNeill Mc-Neill netted third place Mary Ann Parrish turned in the fastest time in the pole bending, and Dani Petersen placed second. Bonnie Barker captured third place. Vicki Lyons won the novice barrels and the goat tying. Rick Massey and Brett Siddoway netted first place honors in the team roping event at the Tabiona Rodeo, Friday and Saturday. The team of Byron Tomlinson and Chad Wilkerson placed second, and Rex Wilkins and Charles Jenkins pocketed third place. Jeff Barlow, Paul Freed and Rex Wilkins all split first place in the calf roping contest, with times of 10.4. Byron Tomlinson and Scoot McDonald won the team roping contest on Saturday. The father-son team of I. eland and Kary McNeill placed second and Josh Reynolds and Cory McNeill nabbed third. Hal Winterton won the calf roping and Gary Goodrich placed second. Cory McNeill pocketed third place. Cindy Young won the ladies barrel race. Friday with a time of 17.5.
