Show July 24 parade plans near completion Rees Madsen, Chairman of the July 24 Pioneers Day Parade Committee, has announced that there is still room for more entries in this year's July 24th Pioneers Day Parade. His committee is anxious to see that all those who desire to participate in the Parade are given a place in the program. Final plans and order of parade entries in the procession are currently nearing completion. Participation in the Parade is open to Churches, commercial organizations, community groups, scout troops, and individuals. Floats, marching groups, and other entries of interest are welcome. The theme of this year's Parade is "Those Were the Days." The July 24 celebration commemorates the entry into the Salt Lake Valley of the first large group of settlers, the "Mormons." "Mor-mons." Entries in the Parade do not have to be keyed to pioneer days, but should be of general historical interest or community involvement. The Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at 100 North and 500 East. It will proceed west along 100 North and end at the Pavilion at 350 North 900 West. The public is invited to watch and help celebrate on this holiday. All those who are interested in participating in the Parade should contact Rees or Sandie Madsen (789-2701) (789-2701) for more information and to insure in-sure a place in the Parade. Madsen said he expects this to be the best July 24 Parade yet since interest and efforts on preparation of entries are already at such a high level. |
