Show Search called off for body of F. G. swimmer Search was discontinued Wednesday for the body of a 20-year-old Midvale man who drowned in Flaming Gorge Reservoir Monday. Efforts of searchers Monday and Tuesday failed to retrieve the body of Brian Morse, 20 who disappeared in about 180 feet of water Monday around noon. Several boats with grappling hooks drug the area of Dutch John Draw, near Mustang Ridge, while divers worked along the shore, searching sear-ching for the victim. Wind hampered the search both afternoons. Morse was camping in the area with some friends when the accident occurred. oc-curred. John Twiss, forester in charge of law enforcement at Dutch John said, "Morse and two companions were water skiing, and apparently decided to swim for a while. They entered the water and their boat began drifting away. All three swam for the boat, but the wind caught it and carried it further away. During the attempt to catch the boat Morse went down, another swimmer made it to the drifting boat boarding the craft. The third man was in trouble when he was rescued by another boat." The swimmer told Officer Twiss that he couldn't have made it to the drifting craft and would have drowned if not rescued. |
