Show Employers Study Shoe Clerks' Offer A formal counter offer, aimed at settlement of the shoe store strike and drafted by the Clerks' union, was referred to the operators Thursday by William M. Knerr, chairman of the stats industrial commission, acting as conciliator in the dispute. Mr. Knerr said thst ss soon ss he hears from the operators he will call another meeting of representatives representa-tives of both sides. In the meantime, negotiations have progressed satisfactorily. satis-factorily. Mr. Knerr said, each side making concessions. The issue continues to be the question of closed shop or union shop. |
