Show UTAHNS WARNED ON SPOTTED FEVER DISEASE Immunization against Rocky Mountain spotted fever for all persons per-sons contemplating activity in the mountains and forests or other tick-infested areas is advocated by Dr. William M. McKay, state health commissioner. Recalling that during the past ten years an average of 13 cases of the disease per year has been reported, he said, "People whose activities take them into tick-infested areas should.be immunized before the advent of the tick season sea-son this spring." Immunization either will prevent Rocky Mountain Moun-tain spotted fever or lessen the severity of . the infection if the disease develops, he pointed out. Last year, five fever cases were reported, two of them fatal. The immunization warning came with issuance Monday of the weekly health report, showing a total of 408 communicable diseases diseas-es for last week, compared with 820 the corresponding week last year. Disease most frequently contracted was chickenpox of which 184 ases were noted. Mumps were second with 139 cas-,es. cas-,es. Fourteen of scarlet fever were reported during the week and seven sev-en measles cases were noted over the state. |
