A state fund for school lunches, consisting of a 4 liquor tax, would be inadequate to support sup-port the program for the remainder remain-der of the school year, she said. The lunch program is important to school children, she noted, since from one-third to one-half of the average child's minimum daily requirements re-quirements are provided through this program. The government estimate es-timate of 9c per child meal was reduced by the school dpartment to about 6c in anticipation of the fund shortage, she said.
