Show PLANS READIED FOR ANNUAL SPEECH EVENT High schools throughout the ln-termountain ln-termountain area are already at work on preparations for participating partici-pating in the 19th annual Brigham Young University Drama Festival on April 3, 4, and 5, according to Dr. T. Earl Pardoe, head of the BYU Speech Dept. Twelve schools in this area have already registered regis-tered for the three-day meet. March 25th has been set as the registration deadline for participating partici-pating high schools. The traditional tradition-al festival, which is the oldest in the West, will attract students in speech and drama from the entire intermountain area. Seven major awards will be given giv-en for prize winnign entries including includ-ing the Samuel French Award; Dramatists Play Publishing Service Serv-ice Award; National Thespian A-ward; A-ward; the BYU placque for general gener-al excellence; and the BYU Certificate Certif-icate of Merit for plays and events earning superior or honorable mention. Events in which senior high schools of the intermountain area will compete for awards are: one-act one-act plays, humorous and dramatic readings, retold story, pantomime, marionettes, choral speech, radio skits, and a drama clinic for speech and drama coaches. |
