Henager Captures a Swarm of Vagabond Honey Producers. y j AVE you a little beehive on LJ your "roof?" j I "If not, why not?'7 asks J. C. Henager, president of the Utah State Bee association, who has had one on the roof of his office building build-ing on Main street for the past several weeks, long enough, in fact, to be the proud possessor of a hive full of honey. When the report came to hint that a swarm of the melliferous insects was buzzing around I'ioneer park unclaimed and untagged, he took a smoking apparatus, ap-paratus, a brush and a hive and went down and gathered them in. He placed them on his office building roof and there they have worked and thrived. An avid apicult urist, Mr. Henager I expresses boundless hope for the bee ! industry in Utah. A few days ago he returned from a trip through the Pintail basin country in company with the stale bee inspector, and reports conditions condi-tions satisfactory, in spite of thu fact ; that the clover blossoms have been dried up somewhat by the drought. " Kver since the last legislature gave official recognition to the bee industry ; in Utah,'' Mr. Henager said, ''by providing pro-viding for the appointment of a state , bee inspector, keener interest has been manifested in the culture of the honey-gathering honey-gathering insects. "The slate inspector is now- arranging arrang-ing to appoint county inspectors all over the state for the purpose of making mak-ing a close supervision of the industry and determining ways and means for increasing anil enlarging advantages dried pu somewhat by the drought. "Tt is my firm belief that it will not be many years before the bee industry in-dustry will be one of Utah's biggest assets. ' ' |
