Show 111 DISTRICT GIVES j PfflH FUTURE i Proving of Large Ore Body on Simon Mine Stimulates Stimu-lates Development. M TXA, Xev., July 31. The mining resources re-sources of th'y region, which are now attracting at-tracting interest on the part of minNyj men on a scale second only to that of the Divide district, near Tonopah, promise to make this district one of the most active ac-tive and productive in Nevada. Silver, Hold, lead, copper, cinnabar and tungsten tung-sten abound over a wide area, of which Mina is the supply center. The various districts, which include Candelaria, Belleville, Belle-ville, .Douglass. Luning. Pamiico, Garfield, Gar-field, Athens. Goldyke, the Cedar range. Pilot mountains and other claims, have a production of many millions of dollars to their credit. Somewhat recent disclosures in the Simon Si-mon .Silver-Lead mine, twenty. three miles northe;st of Mina. have awakened new interest and caused a great influx of mining min-ing men and capitalists to participate In developing properties throughout this region. The Simon mine, which is controlled by P. A. Simon of Mina. has a marvelous marvel-ous deposit of silver-lead ore, according to many mining men who have examined it. Starting with a 20-foot outcrop at surface, the ore has gradually expanded with depth. On the 230-foot level it shows a width of thirty-five feet of sllver-lead-zinc sulphide ore; at 300 feet the ore is seventy-seven feet across, and on the 400-foot level the ore body is 140 feet between walls. What it will prove to be with each additional 100 feet of depth forms nn interesting subject for conjecture. The overage value of the ori as determined by mine sampling, is around $24 per ton in silver, lead and zinc, but the per cent of zinc is decreasing de-creasing on the 400 level and the silver and lead values increasing. A flotation plant is to be installed to separte the silver-lead from the zinc and thus make ' a more desirable product for smelting out of each. A new surface equipment for enlarged and deeper development is being be-ing installed to supplant most of the present equipment For several miles along the lime-gran-I lte-porphyry formation new mines of producing pro-ducing silver, lead and copper are being developed, and the hills are full of prospectors pros-pectors who are making new discoveries, some of which may, with development, closely rival thi Simon mine. Adjacent to the sil vor-lead belt is an Immense area of porphyry carrying high gold values in quartz vo'ns that range from five to fifteen feet in width. This ore is generally free mllllns'. Larffe operations op-erations in the porphyry belt at the present pres-ent time are being carried on by the Olympic Mining company. which is treating about seventy tons of $15 ore per day in a cyanide plant. A number of other companies are also operating1 and plans are being made for Installing several new mills within the near future. Several important mining deals in the gold rt have recently been consummated and activities are expanding at an almost al-most bewildering rate, due to the great interest on the part of mining men who are looking for something which has the earmarks of de eloping into big producers. |
