An immediate strike of the Ixin-don Ixin-don police was decided upon tonight at mass meetings held at various places. The grievance of the police is the bill before parliament reorganizing the department. This bill allows the reorganization of a police union, hut prohibits it from affiliating af-filiating with labor unions, and prohibits policemen from going on strike under any circumstances, with heavy penalties. Early this morning few policemen had responded to the strike call. The night patrolmen start work at 10 o'clock and nearly all remained at their posts throughout the night. A large majority of the policemen were not aware of the intention of the union to call them out. Snnie refused to believe be-lieve that a strike had been ordered and some expressed disapproval. It m ppeared evident that thp move was decided upon secretly by the union executives. |
