The fruit crop of Idaho will be ready for harvesting two weeks earlier than during a normal sea-J sea-J son, according to an announcement of Miles Cannon, commissioner of agriculture, agricul-ture, who warns the farmers not to be unprepared to meet the extraordinary condition. August 20 is the' tentative date for the beginning of the work of gathering the.jTuit, in the opinion of Commissioner Cannon, who backs his judgment by a personal survey of conditions in the state. Hundreds of cars for apples and many for peaches have been asked for from the railroads by the fruit men, who are keen to forecast the situation, and others who anticipate their crops will be ready-early ready-early are advised to make preparation for shipment before the fruit is ready for actual transfer to market. Tlie fruit this season will be of good grade, according to Commissioner Cannon, Can-non, but not of the highest quality, because be-cause of the rapid ripening. |
