Show UTAH STEEL PLANT PROJECT DISCUSSED Chairman Hurley to Take the Matter Up With Schwab for Final Determination. Special to The Tribune. "WASHINGTON, July 26. Persisting in his effort to get a government steel plant for Utah, Senator King today appealed ap-pealed to Chairman Hurley of the shipping ship-ping board to look into the project and determine whether, under 'his authority from congress, he can back such an industry in-dustry in Utah. Mr. Hurley, after discussing dis-cussing the situation at length, told Senator King that if a! steel plant can be built in Utah in time to furnish steel for Pacific coast shipyards during the war, he would regard such a project as worthy of government backing. He took the data presented by the senator, and left for Philadelphia, where he will discuss the matter with Mr. Schwab, in charge of government shipbuilding operations. The problem, therefore, will probably be passed upon finally by Mr. Schwab. |
