Upon report from G. V, La wry of the committee appointed to investigate conditions con-ditions at the agricultural college In Logan Lo-gan it was decided yesterday to recommend recom-mend to the state council of defense that 540.000 for the college and $40,000 for the University of Utah be borrowed from the state, with the indorsements of responsible respon-sible business men as security. The money thus borrowed Is to be used in the erection at each institution of suitable suit-able buildings to care for the detachments detach-ments of men who will undergo military training from August 15 of this year to June 30 of 1019. These buildings are to be of such character that when their military use shall have passed they can be converted to college purposes. Business men who will sign the neces- : sary documents to obtain the money will 1 be reimbursed by the legislature. It is j expected that the money, howuver, will all be realized in federal outlay on the training account of the detachments of men. An estimate of $500,000 is placed as the approximate amount of this expendi- ; ture, so that the advance of the cash is simply regarded as a temporary investment. invest-ment. Dr. W. C.
