The British official offi-cial communication, Issued this evening, says: This morning a hostile attack upon posts held by us in the Aveluy wood, north of Albert, was repulsed. A raid attempted by the enemy during the night In the neighborhood of Vieux-Berquin Vieux-Berquin also was driven off with losses. A few prisoners were captured by us early this morning in the course of the enemy's unsuccessful attack upon our positions at Meteren. LONDON, July 26. The Germans this morning launched a local attack against the positions recently taken by the British Brit-ish in tho Meteren sector of the Flanders Flan-ders front. The war office announces that thev were renulspd nfior cv.-r. fighting. Last night the Germans delivered an attack upon the new British positions in the Hebuterne sector on the front between be-tween Albert and Arras. The enemy was driven off with severe losses, leaving prisoners in the hands of the British. The statement reads: Yesterday evening the enemv attacked at-tacked our new positions in the Hebuterne Hebu-terne sector under cover of a heavy barrage. His troops were driven off with severe loss, leaving thirty prisoners pris-oners in our hands. Early this morning a strong local attack at-tack was launched by the enemy against the line recently Gained bv us at Meteren. This attack was 'also repulsed, after sharp fighting.
