Show W. C. STARK MAY BE GIVEN LIEUTENANCY Former Secretary of Commercial Club, Now Serving on Border, Believed to Be in Line for Promotion. Recommendation that William C. Stark, former secretary of Lhe Salt Lake Commercial Com-mercial cluh, now serving with the Second squadron of Utah cavalry on the Mexican border, be promoted to a lieutenancy, will likely he made by Ma.ior W. G. Williams, commanding the squadron, it was announced an-nounced here yesterday. The recommendation recommen-dation is expected following the installation installa-tion of Major W. G. Williams as adjutant geutcal of the National Guard of Utah, which took place yesterday. Sergeant Major Stark enlisted with troop A when the call came from the president June IS. He served in troop A as a private. Later he was transferred to the quartermaster's corps, where he was made a sergeant. In the latter part of August he was promoted to sergeant ma.ior ma-.ior of the Second squadron at Xogales, Ariz. Before coming to Utah Sergeant Stark served as a non-commissioned officer with Lhe National Guard of Pennsylvania. |
