Show SEEKS TO COMPEL STATE TO ACCEPT . POCATELLO, Jan. 1. In an 'action filed in the federal district court bv the Twin Falls-Salmon River Land & Water company it is sought' to compel Governor Alexander and the retiring members of the state land boaivi to accept the works of the company under the Carey act. At a recent meeting of the hoard the retiring members, at the request of the governor, refused to approve of the recommendation of the state engineer that the works be accepted. Attorneys ' for the company became involved in an altercation with Governor Alexander, and in the petition which has been filed the i court is asked to issue a restraining or- 1 der to prevent the board from "harass- ! ing" and "annoying" the company ' with suits or threatened suits which look to the confiscation of its property and impairment im-pairment of its lien upon the lands under the project. s The Salmon river tract has been a source of contention between the settlers set-tlers and the state on the one hand and the company on the other for years, owing ow-ing to the allege failure of the company to complete the project and supply sufficient suf-ficient water. |
