Jenson has been connected wit h that school sin e 190ft. when he started as a "prep." He Is possibly the best athlete that ever wore the crimson of the northern north-ern "V." He first loomed up tn 1903, when he starred on the basketball tem. In 1907 lie led the B. Y. C. five as captain cap-tain lo the slate championship. The following fol-lowing vear. 1909, lie was re-elected captain. cap-tain. The B. Y. C team went 1 hrouch the season with a clean slate and was the first Utah basketball team to tour the east. During that year Joe Jenson established an enviable reputation and was selected hv critics as the peer of all the pivot position men. Jenson participated partici-pated in every sport. When Coach, Bndenrwk organized n. football team at the B. Y. C. Jensmi played at fullback. Tie was catcher on the college ha seball tea m and was a liirhtninsr sprint!' on the cinders. Although Al-though not officially recorded. Jenson has run tho 100-yard dash in ten seconds. Jenson was grad uatcd from the B. Y. C. in 190S. with the degree of bachelor of arts. The following two vears he acted as coai'h at the Oneida Stake academy, where he placed athletics on a firm basis. He came to the "Y" In the fall of 1910 and has been there ever since. In 1912 his team won the state scholastic cham - ion ship easily. Since that time the B. : Y. ( '. ha competed in intercollegiate ath ; letics. Jenson has studied also at the University of Utah. University of Wiscon- ; sin. University of Chicago and Columbia. : Jenson will st art work at the A prii-ul tural college this week, when Watson returns, from the east. The opening of the new year rinds the Shelley high school with great prospects for a championship cham-pionship quintette. In the ames played so far in the training season the local five has made a fine showing, both against high schools and college teams. The Shelley Shel-ley men have won four and lost one. The Shelley second team won from Blacki'oot by a score of 54 to 10. The regulars beat Pocatel'o, 30 to 4: Ricks arademv, 4S to 3, and Ash ton Athletic club, 79 to 32. but latter lost to Ash ton on the latter's floor, 33 to 30. This is the first time the Stickers have played together this season and none of the men was in condition. The Stickers are mostly former high school stars and their experience gave them the victorv tlirough superior basket shootins. The first half ended IS to 9. Robinson made eigrht of the Murray points, uhile Woods made six. For the Stickers, George Hamilton with ten, Emery with eleven and Clarence Kudine with six were the hlarh point makers.
