Show SIMON BARKER DIES I AT AGE OF 90 YEARS Pioneer Was Born in England in 1826 and Came to Utah in 1819; Funeral Tomorrow. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Jan. 1. Pinion Barker, 00 years or ape, a pioneer resident of this city, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Theresa Barlow, 70S Twelfth street, at Z:"f) o'clock this afternoon, death resulting re-sulting from general debility. Mr. Barker was born In England in 1826. After becoming be-coming a member of the Mormon church when a young man he emigrated to America Amer-ica in 1S40, coming: direct to Utah. He had been a continuous resident of Weber county since coming to the state. He was not only identified with Its pioneer pio-neer history, but served with other early residents during the Indian wars. He had also been active' In Mormon chuivh work, having served for many years past as a member of the high priests' quorum of the Ogden stake. Surviving him are two daughters. Mrs. Theresa Barlow and Mrs. Evelyn James, and one son, Frederick E. Barker. Among the twenty-six grandchildren grand-children .are Municipal Judge George S. Barker. There are also surviving him fourteen great-grandchildren. The body was taken to the Larkin undertaking un-dertaking establishment, where it may be viewed by friends on Tuesday afternoon after-noon and evening. It will also lie in state at the home of Mrs. "Barlow on Wednesday Wednes-day from 9 a. in. to 1:30 p. m. The funeral fu-neral services will be conducted in the Seventh ward meeting house at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Automobile cortege cor-tege to the Ogden City cemetery. |
