Show HENS FILED TO FID CHEE L. W. Sowles and R. G. Hal-Ioran Hal-Ioran Deny Accusations of Edginton. 1j. W. Sowles and it. G. Halloran have made, answer to tho complaint filed against them some wcekH ago by Frank Kaginton, in which ho claimed that thoy had defrauded him of his interest in tho estate of F. D. Clift. In answor they deny absolutely tho allegations of fraud mado against thorn by Edginton. and also do-nv do-nv very strongly that ho was drunk or that thoy had over given him any money or bought him a single drink, and claim that ho wns absolutely sober so-ber and was perfectly capable both mentally and physically to transact business. Thoy also deny thnt thov mado any false reprcscntn'tions to Edginton in order to induco him to enter into tho transaction, but claim, on the other hand, that Edginton came to them about; ten davs after tho death of Mr. Clift and asked them to help him dispose of his interest in tho estate. They claim that Edgintou was at all times aware of tho value of his intorcst , and that thov paid him $12,000 for his one-fortieth intorcst, and that Edginton Edgin-ton wns very well satisfied and had beon satisfied up until the day suit was brought against them. Messrs. Sowles nnd Halloran in speaking speak-ing of tho suit last ovening stated that they wore complctoly dumfounded when notified of the suit, as they had given Edginton a big prico for his one-fortieth intorcst, uccauso since that time they havo purchased three-fortieths for $30,000. Tho estate consists principal' of real estato and hns a future speculative specu-lative value, and it -will unquestionably take several years to rcalizo anything out of tho estate. |
