Eivcrton is rapidly coming to tho front rank in Salt Lako county towns. Much of its activity is due directly to tho character of its Commercial club. At a recont reorganization of tho club John Hansen, Jr., was elected president of the club. Ir. O. B. Hardy was chosen first vico president, S. 11. Howard How-ard was elected second vico president and Eugcno Miller was named secretary secre-tary and treasurer, with Scth Pixton aa assistant. Last month the members of the club decided that Kiverton needed some sidewalk repairing. Tho club got behind be-hind tho movement and in tho first four days more than sixty-five mon and twcnty-Hvc teams turned" out to do the work. Moro than one and one-half miles of lirst-class sidewalk now add to the attractiveness of the town. Tho men who gave their timo and teams to tho work (lid it out of public spirit and not n cont was exponded on tno -work. Concluding that a good ball team was a valuable advertisement for a community, tho Commercial cliib took over the ball grounds and tho Rivorton club nnd will manage thom during the coming season. The club will enter its team in the league which is being formed in tho south oud of tho county. A brass band -will probably bo oddod to the club's projocta in the near future, fu-ture, also. . In tho past tho club has installed eloctric lights, a wator system and did much to encourage tho construction of the new interurbun road. A flour mill is being sought for tho community now. The club is communicating wiba the Agricultural collego regarding the holding of a f armors' TOundup in Rivorton and one will probably he held there in the near future. There is room for mechanics, a good dentist, and industrious farmers in the vicinity of Rivorton. There aro lino schools ihoro and poverty is comparatively compara-tively unknown in tho community. The Commercial club la putting forth a strenuous effort to locate more peoplo there and it is a very desirablo place for a home. |
