Show NOTED IDAHOAN AT REST. Funeral of Captain John E. Yates Is Held at State Capital. Special to Tho Tribune. BOISE. Idaho, March 7. The funeral of Captain John E. Yates was held here yesterday and marked tho passing of one of the most distinguished citizens of Bolso and Idaho. Captain Yates died suddenly Wednesday morning from heart trouble. He had been 111 but a few days. At the. last general election in thl3 state Captain Yates was the Progressive party candidate for state treasurer. In tho eleventh legislature ho represented this county In tho senate and prior to that tlmo wan a member of tho house of representatives. H0 was twlco a member mem-ber of the council of this city. In 1905 he organized the Bank of Commerce Com-merce of thin city and when it consolidated with the- Idaho Trust & Savings bank he became president of the new banking house. He was born a l Bristol. Me., In lSlo, and for many years followed the sea, vis ting every port of importance In the world. Later ho abandoned this life camo west and went Into the sheep business busi-ness with success. At the time of his death he was worth a quarter of a million mil-lion dollars and owned two of this cltv's business blocks. Ho Is survived by a widow and seven children. |
