Show BIG QUHnZ BODY ON DION'S 1090 Fourteen Feet of It, but Only Low-grade Milling Values. A fourteen-foot vein of quarlz has just been oncountcred on tho 1000 lovol of the Dragon Consolidated property at Silver City. Somo dcop mining has been going on thero for some littlo timo, drifts being sent out toward the cast on both tho 1000 and 800 levels, suys tho Eureka licportcr. Tho drift on the S00 is still in the lime formation, but it is expected to soon cut one 01 t lie :.V,rfuri voitm traversing tlio Druou "round. Tho big quartz vein that has "boon located on tho 1000 level dhows somo fairly good yaluos. but at thu present time thero is nothing in sight but a low-grado milling product. After cutting this vein the management manage-ment changed tho course ot tho drilt aud is now pushing toward tho south, following tho quartz. In tho event that better values aro not found on the TOOL it. is quite probablo (hat a win.o will be sunk 011 the voin, . Work in tho tunuol. whn'h was started start-ed several mouths go aud which was driven for tho purpose of prospecting an important section of tho .Dragon ground and eventually makiug a connection con-nection with the upper workings of UiO Iron Blossom mine, .has been tcmporur-ilv tcmporur-ilv discontiuued. The tunnel was in a distance of about 1700 feot when the work stopped a few day.-, ago, and in driving lhat distance some splendid iron deposits as well as large bodies of low-grado ore have boon developed. The irfln oro is of no particular value to the company at the present time, but at somo futuro date it may bring the Dragon somo revenue The low-grado oro can no doubt be handled when the Knight-Christousoii mill is in successful operation. Practically tlio whole face of the tunnel is in a milling product and the management decided that it would bo advisable lo stop tho work until the mill is ready lo tnko tho ore, thus saving tho cost df handling Ulcere Ulc-ere tho second time. Lead in Standard Winze. With tho winze down to tho 1100 level or vory near that point, and a bunch of galena ore that is fully two feot in width showing in tho bottom, conditions aro much moro favorable than thoy havo boon for tho Tiutic Standard proporty. When tho winze was started Manager Kaddatz made the statement that ho would sink on the vein for a distance of 100 feet, taking it to the 1100, and then do somo drifting drift-ing for tho purposo of getting a be'-ter be'-ter lino on tho ore, but tho present showing is so -promising that ho is almost al-most certain to sink tho win.o some dittnnce bolow the 1100 level. A telephone tele-phone message from the mine today indicates in-dicates that, tho Tiutic Standard is in lino lor a big oro body either on the 1100 lovol or a short distance below that level. Jfc is safo to say that the show'ng at that depth is far hotter than it is on tho 1000 level whero the oro was first encountered. Superintendent John Westordahl states that in addition to the work in the wiuzo he is driving lo tho oast in the main drift. Last weak this drift was cutting some small bunches of quartz aud conditions aro pretty much tho sumo at tho present timo, although al-though tho quartz seems to be coming in strongor as tho work progresses. Opohongo Nearing Vein. Over at tho Opohongo properly at Mammoth Superintendent Samuel Cox is pushing right ulong with tho development devel-opment work from the main tunnel level. This section of the company's ground was prospoclcd to some extent many years ago wnen an incline shaft iollowed the vein for a few hundred feet without opening ai'thing but low-grado ore. It was for the purposo of tapping this same vein at much greater depth that Superintendent Cox started the piece of work to which he is giving his entire attenion at tho present time. Tho drift has already reached a point almost directly under the old shaft, but owing to the fact that tho vein is dipping toward tho oa'sr, sonic additional work will be uecessarv before it is encountered. Thero should be something of interest to report, however, how-ever, within tho next fow weeks. During the month of lebruary the output, of the Opohongo amounted to but three cars, this ore being taken from tho older workings of tho mino by the leasers who havo been at work there tor some littlo time. The revenue from oro shipped by the leasers is just about paying for the prospecting which the Opohongo people tiro now dc ing and consequently it is not necessary to draw upon tho small reserve lhat is ?iow in the treasury. May Day Making Good. w,ay iD,iy """S company shares have advanced a fow points during tho past week or two and this no doubt can be attributed to tho striko which w?s recently made by leasers in tho upper portion of the property. The second shipment from the new striko left the nine during the week and another lot a being loaded. Superintendent Grigtfs is highly pleased with tho manner 111 which his new; ore deposit is being dove do-ve oped and believes that it will be'pos-Mble be'pos-Mble for tho teasers lo get out a l-t.r-load ot this high-grade silver-lcad ore every live day,.
