Show T1IIC LIKELY TO HIE SEVERAL MILLS Several Operators There Considering Con-sidering Reduction Plants to Handle Low Grade. In order to handle heavy tonnages of Low-grade ore now almost vahieloss, many of tho largo operators of the Tin-tic Tin-tic region are seeking satisfactory milling processes, and it will not be at all surprising if a number of mills aro constructed there during the next year, according to the Eureka Importer. In addition to tho high grade ore deposits de-posits from which tho Tintic properties aro making regular shipments, almost every one of these mines contains a vast tonnago of tho low-grade ore for which there ia no market. Conditions are pretty much tho samo iu almost every mining district in tho west, but in most of theso districts mills havo been constructed, con-structed, to take caro of tho low-grade product. Everywhere but hero in Tin-tic Tin-tic milling goes hand in hand with mining, min-ing, and instead of leaving the milling ore in tho mines, it is taken out and made to yield considerable rovcuue. Ores Refractory. It is true that Tintic ores do not give up their values very readily to the ordi- j nary process of milling, but surely thore is some way of overcoming the difficulties difficul-ties encountered in the treatment of these hard refractory ores, and when tho mining men once get busy along that lino they aro going to solve thc problem. Early in tho coming spring work will no doubt bo started on one and perhaps two new mills and ust as soon as there is some way of taking care of tho lower grade ores wc can look for a revival of mining operations here in Tintic a real boom such as tho camp has never experienced. ex-perienced. If the higher grade of ores of tho camp will support tho present population, it is safe to say that twice tho number could find employment here if the mines were able to extract both the shipping product and l.ho milling grade of ore. Prospecting Quartz at Emerald. Edward Oakes, the superintendent of tho Emerald property at Mammoth, states that he is still doyeloping the big- body of quartz which was opened on the '700 level of the mine a few weeks ago. and that whilo th,o higher grado oro "has not yet been found, the showing could hardly be better, and he is confident that the work which is now being dono will result iri the opening of something good. Two connections have now been made with the vein on the Emerald's 700 level, tho second drift cutting the quartz formation fully 100 feet farther to the north than the point whore tho vein was first encountered Dragon Prospecting 800 Level. The Dragon Consolidated, people are doing some important prospecting on tho mine's S00 level, and within the next few weeks they expect to encounter the ICing .Tames and Martha veins in the lino formation. It will bo remembered that these veins -were cut in tho porphyry por-phyry several months ago and that thc management decided to discontinue thc work there and drive a drift toward the east with a view to prospecting tho line. Frank Birch, the assistant manager of the Knight mines, states that on the S00 level thirty to forty feet of work will be sufficient to reach tho King .Tames vein, and. that the indications of getting get-ting into an oro body arc quite good. Early in thc week tho Tintic Standard Stand-ard people purchased a second-hund boiler from the Swansea Consolidated Mining company, and as soon as this boiler can be put in place at the former property, work will again be taken up on tho i000 level. The boiler which has just been purchased is of 100 horsepower horse-power capacity. |
