Show negro Occidentals Defeat Ogden ly Hard Hitting and Clever Base Running. BOTH TEAMS PLAY BIG LEAGUE BASEBALL Langford Scores Winning Run in Ninth Inning by His Fast Work. The Occidentals by hard hitting and fast base running pulled their game with Ogden out of the fire Saturday afternoon in the ninth inning and won by a scoro of 3 to 2. The winning run was scored in the ninth when, after two men were out, Langford beat out the throw-In from a fly to Gimlin in deep center. Tho game was one of the best that has over been seen at Walker's field. Both teams did excellent work in the field and gave excellent support to the pitch-era, pitch-era, who were hit freely. Murphy pitched superbly up to the eighth Inning, when lie weakened and was hit hard by the negroes, Langford was hit frequently, 'but the hlta were well scattered. Features of the game .were the fielding of Gimlin and Burns, and the hitting and base running of Mooncy. There were two double plays. Mooncy caught a. long drive In right field and nipped Lawrence at the plate. Gimlin pullod one down that looked good for two bases and caught Lane at second. Murphy scooped one out of tho dustjnnd doubled Mooncy out at first. McAdoo, tho first baseman for the negroes, got the longest hit of the game, a thrcc-bagger to the left field fence. Ogden Starts Well. Tho Ogden players got a lead In the second inning, Gimlin opetKid with a two-bagger and was sacrificed to third by Plako, Bluth singled and Gimlin scored. Bluth got to second on a passed ball, but the next two men went out. Ogden appeared to have another chance in the third. Claude Burns dropped Lawrence's pop-up over second base, Bock singled " and TVessler sacrificed. With men on second and third Ramshaw Bent a long fly to Mooney In right field. Mooncy pulled down the fly and with a beautiful throw nipped Lawrence at the plate. , Ogden scored in tho sixth, after two men wore out Ramshaw walked and stole second; Gimlin singled and Ramshaw Ram-shaw scored. Plake singled, but Gimlin was caught trying to get from flrBt to third base. After the sixth, Ogden had no chance to score. The Occidentals looked dangerous in the second inning, when Langford singled, sin-gled, stole second and reached third on Lane's sacrifice fly A strike-out and a pop-up fly, however, retired the side. In the fifth, the Oxles again got a start toward home. Burns opened with a hit and beat out the throw to second on Lane's grounder. He was nipped at third when Murphy fielded on Robinson's groundor. McAdoo drove a long one to deep center that looked safe. Gimlin pulled it down, however, and doubled Mooncy Gets Around. In the sixth Inning, Mooney opened with a single. He went to second on a passed ball and got to third when Black was, thrown out at first. Murphy dropped Tolles's return of a. pitched ball and Mooney scored. Langloy followed with a hit. but Langford was thrown out, Lawrence to Bluth. : The negroes startod hitting Murphy hard in the eighth. McAdoo started oft the procession with a three-bagger and Mooney brought him home with a single. sin-gle. Black popped out to Murfmy and Mooney was doubled at first. Hawkins got a long single and stole second. Lang-ley Lang-ley went out, Wessler to Bluth, retiring the side. Langford's hitting and base running won the game for the Occidentals in the ninth.
