Show PIONEER BUSINESS MAN IS DEAD OF GASTRITIS Special to Tho Tribune. OGDEN, Aug. 20v Joseph Baxter, one of the pioneer business men of Ogden city, died at his home, 20GD Douglas avenue, at G o'clock this morning from gastritis, after less than a week's Illness. He was taken 111 last Monday and gradually grad-ually grew worse until the end came. Mr. Baxter was born at Norwich, England, Eng-land, February 2fi, 1S51, and came to this city with his parents when ho was 13 years ol age. For several years ho was associated with Samuel Horrocks. his father-in-law, ln a general mercantile business. Later he- entered the police department, whero ho served as desk scrxronnt for ten voars. When stricken he was In the employ of tho Linen Supply Sup-ply & Fixture company as an engineer. Funeral services will bo held at tho Fourth ward mooting house next Tuesday Tues-day afternoon at 2 o'clock by Bishop E. A. OlsOi. Friends who desire to seo the body may do so at the residence from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. on the ctay of the funeral. Burial will bo ln the City corc.o-tory. |
