Show WATER FAMINE RESULTS FROM BREAKING OF PLUG Special o Tho Tribune. OGDEN, Aug. 20. For practically the enllru day, since 9:K0 o'clock this morning, morn-ing, Ogden City has been suffering in the form of a water famine and totally without with-out fire protection, due to the breaking of a slxtcen-lnch iron plug in the cross-Joint cross-Joint of tho water main at the corner of Taylor avenue and Twenty-fifth strcot. To make matters worse, when the wator-workn wator-workn department finally ascertained the location of the break. It was found lhaL there was not a plug of this size ln the entire supply and fixture department and one had to be manufactured of wood to bo used temporarily. Although the ontiro population of tho city was Inconvenienced through luck of water for drinking and culinary purposes, pur-poses, this was overlooked when the appalling ap-palling danger to tho city from fire was contemplated. There were many expressions expres-sions of criticism agalnsl tho city administration admin-istration heard as a result of this apparent ap-parent negligence in falling to keep necessary nec-essary parts for repairs. The plug Is supposed to have corroded from the effects of the water and gradually gradu-ally worn to such thinness that It was broken by tho action of the water in tho pipes. |
