Show IMMIGRATION INCREASES But Class of Foreigners Who Seek Homes Is Lower. WASHINGTON, July 2S. Revised figures indicate that tho immigration to this country during tho fiscal vear ending end-ing June 30 last was 73,o74 greater than it was duriug tho fiscal vear 1905. Tbo immigration during tho "past year aggregated .1,100,073 against 1.026499 for the previous yoar. It is notable that the class of immigrants was not so high as in many previous years, most of thern coming from Austria-Hungary, JtUHsia and Italy. During tho yoar ju3fc passed 12.433 persons were debarred for various causes, principally diseases of some sort. During the year seventeen aliens imported im-ported ior immoral purposes wero arrested ar-rested and deported. Commissioner Sargent says every effort ef-fort is being made to break up the ''while slave traffic." |
