Show EIGHT GRADUATES FROM EUREKA HIGH SCHOOL Special to The Tribune. EUREKA, May 28. Tho graduating exercises of the Eureka high school were held at the hall last evening, but thohallwas lnadequato to hold tho large crowd. One of tho Interesting numbers on the programme waa an address ad-dress by Prof. Marshal of the University Univer-sity of Utah at Salt Lake. The graduates gradu-ates from tho high school this year are: Miss Elodla Mangun, Miss Mary Mc-Cullough, Mc-Cullough, Miss Josle Kelly, Miss Edith Billings, John Downey. Albert Jarvls, Newell Irvine and William Hurd. After tho exercises at the hall the graduates and a select numbor of friends enjoyed a banquet at the L. D. S. church In honor of Prof. Marshal. Under the supervision of Prof. A. C. Carlson the high school at this place hns been improved until It Is one of tho best In the State. ... The Eighth grade graduating exercises exer-cises were held at Odd Fellows hnll last Thursday night. Those to graduate gradu-ate from this grade this year aro: Misses Mattle Broadhead. Delia Fields, Clara Glllls, Pauline Demmelmaler, Ruby Halls. Ruby Harris, Ruby Ferguson, Fer-guson, Alice Ivll. Etta Matthews, Florence Flor-ence May. Blanche Brown. Zuma Leeth-am, Leeth-am, Ethel Hansen, Ella Dallln, Jennie Shaw and "Wilbur Green. Boyd Barnard, Bar-nard, Elmer Boyle and George Hurd. . Tho Eureka public schools closed a successful year yesterday. Most of the teachers, Including Prof. A. C. Carlson, have been engaged for another year. The St. Joseph's school will not closo until the latter part of June. . Mrs. Edw. Wilkinson, formerly Miss Kittle Earls, Is down from Butte, Mont., visiting hor father, James Earls, superintendent of tho Bullion-Beck mine. ... Mrs. Mary M. Ryan, a former well known Eureka woman, Is out from Salt Lake visiting Mr. and Mrs. Edward Pike. . Miss Annie Pike, one of the high school teachers, iyill leave tomorrow for St. George, Utah, where she will visit relatives during the summer. ... Edward Emblelon has resigned his position with Helteman & Thompson, to take effect on June 1. Mr. Embleton has been with the firm for six years. He will be succeeded by Mr. llelmick. a son of Rev. D. M. Ilelmlok of Salt Lake. 4 Miss Leonora Franks left last Wednesday Wed-nesday for Los Angeles, Cal., whore she will visit her sister. ... At the last meeting of Eureka Miners' union No. 151, W. F. of M., Thomus S. Hayes was chosen as president to succeed suc-ceed Orris Jannan. Eugeno Slebold was selected as vice-president to succeed suc-ceed Mr. Hnynes. The .union Is making mak-ing preparations for an excursion to Lagoon on June 13. m The Eureka Union band, a now musical mu-sical organization, gave Its first open air concert on Main street last evening. The six numbers on the programme were exceptionally well rendered. The band will give one concert a week throughout the summer. Miss Annie Earls returned to her home at Salt Lake Wednesday, after a visit with Eureka friends. The plant of the Tlntlc Miner, a newspaper which was closed some time ago under attachment proceedings Instituted In-stituted by P. G. Wilson of Salt Lake, will be sold at public sale on June 2. |
