Show GLOBE TROTTER RM FAR JAPAN Wealthy Oriental Merchant Spending Years in Seeing tho Wonder3 of tho World. ARRIVING on Rio Grande No. 2 yesterday afternoon was N. Na-kamura, Na-kamura, tho wealthy Japancso merchant, who for some years has been making a tour of the world. He does not travel like a tourist, by the regular routes, but visits every place of promlncnco in tho whole globe. He started out from his home In Alchl-ken In 1901 on this trip and has Just reached Salt Lake. Ho first went through Korea Ko-rea and China, then to India and the surrounding countries, gradually working work-ing his way through Arabia, Persia and tho Holy Land Into European waters. From England he came to this country and Is going now to tho World's Fair. Mr. Nakamura has with him an autograph au-tograph book which is unique and valuable valu-able for It contains the official seal and autograph of a Consulate, Mayor, Vice-Regent Vice-Regent or some notable olllclal of every city ho has visited. All languages and script are represented and the display of official red and gold ffeals Is worth while studying. He Is very well up on English and Is seemingly a well educated man, talking most entertainingly of the different countries and the various phases of life which have come under his observation. He was held up by bandits In Persia and thrown Into Jail at Algiers, nearly killed by a train wreck In India and suffered a severe shock by magnitude of the hotel rates in Los Angeles. That he Is exactly what he represents himself him-self Is more than attested by his seals and when he leaves Salt Lake today for Denver he will have some city and county building man represented In his book to show that he was here on hlB visit. |
