Show Thrilling Antics on Window Ledge Crazed Woman Holds Spellbound Large Crowd Who Expected. Her to Fall to Death. OMAHA, Neb., May 2S. A woman, racing back and forth on the S-lnch cornice of a downtown hotel ho-tel held a largo crowd spellbound for twenty minutes this afternoon before be-fore the police finally saved her from what had seemed certain death. Temporarily crazed by Illness. Mrs. Olivia Boyde had swallowed a big dose of chloroform . liniment and when friends at the hotel hud tried to administer admin-ister an antidote, she broke away from them and climbed through a window of her room trying to escape. The crowd which quickly gathered below still further fur-ther muddened her and she kept crying, cry-ing, incoherently: "Shadows and cats are seeking to kill me." After she had been racing back and forth on the narrow landing for twenty twen-ty minutes, she was captured and dragged back into tho house, but she finally broke loose from her captors and ran out from a window on the other side of the building on to the fire escape. Thero she hung from an iron bar three stories above the ground for several minutes, while blankets were held below to catch her Eventually the police arrived and succeeded in quieting tho woman. |
