Show State Chsmps By DAVE WIGHAM SALT LAKE CITY Cheryl Rosengreen of Viewmont View-mont scored a goal in overtime to hand Viewmont a 6-5 victory vic-tory over Cottonwood and hand the Viking gals their first state water polo title. IT WAS sweet revenge for the Viking women who had lost to the Colts in regular season sea-son play. Cheryl also scored the goal late in the game to send the battle into overtime. Merilee Davis of Viewmont also had an outstanding game in the finals scoring three goals in the first half. Julie Smith was also very instrumental in the win coming up with seven steals in the battle. IN THE semifinal game the Vikings also gained some revenge re-venge by knocking off Cyprus 9-6. Their other win in the tournament tour-nament was a 15-2 Cakewalk over Mountain View Orem. For their efforts Merilee Davis, Cheryl Rosengreen, Julie Smith and Kia Fadel were all named first team all-state and will now head to Phoenix for a meet. THE BOYS team of Viewmont View-mont placed fourth in their tournament. |
