Show West Bountiful By ALICE MITCHELL 295-1156 The weather forecasters have been promising that Indian Indi-an Summer would come. This past week it arrived in all of its glory and with its cold evenings even-ings are reminiscent of the coming winter. Roses, marigolds and other flowers are a glorious sight to behold. On the other hand, some of the plants have been frozen. Everyone is hoping for much snow, so that reservoirs and dams will be filled with water wa-ter for the summer months. Indian Summer also brings football games and the World Series games. Joan Paget had to have surgery on both her feet. Linda had io clean up a yard of toilet paper, because of her popularity popular-ity and attendance at a dance. These tricks show to all that Indian Summer is truly here and that Halloween is on its way. All of the members of the 7th Ward are to be reminded of the Nov. 6 "Tell On Your Neighbor" Neigh-bor" talent show. There will be a hobby show and melodrama. melod-rama. Marshall Noker reported on his mission to Spain. Keep Nov. 4, open. There will be a special Bountiful Utah West Stake Grandmothers' Grand-mothers' Night. Four types of demonstrations will be held. The Harold Hugoes were happy to entertain Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Poulson from Calimesa, Calif. The Poulsons and Huboes met at the MTC in Provo before going on their missions. Congratulations to John and Ann Salazar who have a new daughter. Best also to Ann and Joe Allred on the birth of their new son. Richard and Judy Cromar have moved to Provo. The Ward Fair of the 4th Ward was a success and well attended. The fair was under the direction of Dale Haley, Larry Tobler, Sue Townsend and Valarie Thomas. The Earl Arnolds traved to Manti to attend the birthday dinner of Beth's brother-in-law. Marie Peacock, Bea Schul-ties Schul-ties and Delsa Stephens are looking forward to their BYU tour. Lydia Bangerter has been having trouble with her eye. A blood vessel broke. The Ron Bangerter family went out to a birthday dinner for Sherrie, wife of Jim. After-wards After-wards they attended the musical "The Star Child." The Dan Mitchells are planning plan-ning a birthday party for a cousin, Frankie Hayward, who has been at the American Fork School but is now at a cottage. Kathy Beagleys was home for the weekend from Snow College. The Paul Buys spent an enjoyable en-joyable time with their foster son, Elder Kakuchi and his wife. Kakuchi is a member of the Council of the Seventy of the LDS Church. Garth and Nora Hogan took a medical trip to California with their daughter, LaRae. One of the oldest (in terms of years) study groups in the area journeyed to Layton to the home of the Alton Cormias for their study class. Some of those attending were the Paul Buys, the Grant Secrists, Myr-veldean Myr-veldean Dangerfield, Retta Clark, the Harold Hugoes, the Bob Telfords and Maurice Arbucles. Arvella Henrie is recovering from a recent illness. Ty and Karen Haslam had a good time as they visited with their parents, the Glen Has-lams. Has-lams. They were accompanied by their small daughter, Stephanie. There are two registration days left before voting on Nov. 3. They are Oct. 27-28 until 9 p.m. One of the special guests at the 19th birthday dinner of Kent Brown was Amy Brown, his grandmother, and a West Bountifulite for many years. We are glad to learn that Afton Hepworth is much recovered reco-vered from her illness. The Frank Jensens attended the wedding of the daughter of ElMoyne Davis Vance in Por-terville. Por-terville. They were accompanied accompa-nied by Lloyd and Fern Pies of Farmington. Welcome to Shauna and Ed Payne have moved into the apartment where the Slaughs used to live. The Stone Creek MIA will visit the American Fork Training Train-ing School. Buses are being chartered to take the young people there. Avona Blackburn, who is new to West Bountiful, has been hospitalized for surgery. West Bountiful's elementary elemen-tary school received a trophy for their participation in the Hike-Bike to raise funds for programs for the mentally retarded. re-tarded. The presentation was made Oct. 15 at Monte Vista School. The school raised $543.70 for the project. Kathy Scott of the PTA received the trophy. Tony Perkins and Alma Miller Mil-ler received a hand-held calculator calcu-lator because they collected some $75 in pledges for the Hike-Bike event. Alma Miller also won a Rudyard Kipling book. Other prizes went to Jeff Lund and David Perkins. The West Bountiful Elem. School Halloween party will be held Oct. 30 with a traditional tradi-tional parade and parties in the rooms. Children should bring their costumes in sacks, all except ex-cept the kindergarten. The sixth graders heid an outstanding outstand-ing science fair. Parent and teacher conferences confer-ences will be held Nov. 10-13. On Nov. 14 individual pictures will be taken. The Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing holiday will be Nov. 26-27. Everyone who attended the birthday celebration of Lina Rosemann the past week noted how much love is given to those who serve others during their lives. Lina reached her 90th birthday. Beth Ray and others helped in catering the open house during the day. The League of Women Voters Vo-ters held a "Know Your Candidate Can-didate meeting Oct. 27. |
