Show NSL Okays Bid On Water Line NORTH SALT LAKE North Salt Lake officials have accepted a low bid of $43,867 from Weaver Construction for replacement of a decaying water wa-ter line along Highway 89. FIVE AREA construction firms submitted bids to the city council Tuesday night ranging from Weaver's low estimate to a high of $56,699. The engineer's estimate, submitted after the bidding by city engineer Fred Campbell, totalled $62,000. PHASE ONE of the project calls for the replacement of a six-inch water line which reaches from Main Street south of Orchard Drive. The second phase calls for replacement of a water line from Center to Main Street. CONSTRUCTION companies com-panies were asked to bid on each phase of the project. The Weaver Construction bid was the lowest combined bid submitted sub-mitted to the council. The water line from Main Street south of Orchard Drive is the city's most serious problem, prob-lem, said Campbell, because of -recent leakage in the area. COUNCILMAN Rod Wood . noted that the line is old and fragile and must be replaced. Construction on the project is expected to begin this year, mdm |
