Show Beware Of Halloween BOUNTIFUL -- Precautions for halloweeners and iheir parents next Saturday night were outlined this week by Lt. David J. Winter, in charge of patrol for the Bountiful Police Department. HE I'RGED parents to make Halloween safer and more fun for their children by following 10 simple rules and procedures: 1. Turn on all porch and yard lights. 2. ACCOMPANY younger children on their rounds for treats. 3. Limit their children to the length of time they can stay out. preferably having smaller children indoors in-doors by 9 p.m. 4. DO NOT transport or allow children to visit other areas of the city. Restrict them to their immedi ate neighborhoods where they are better known. 5. Have children wear light-colored costumes and clothing and to carry a light-colored sack. Children should also carry flashlights, if possible. 6. CHILDREN should not wear masks that restrict their vision, especially vision to the side. 7. Children should be warned against taking "treats" from strangers. 8. MOTORISTS should be especially careful driv-mg driv-mg Halloween nights. Children are excited and do not act rationally when crossing the street. 9. Older children should accompany younger kids whenever possible. 10. PARENTS should inspect "treats" brought home by their children, being especially cautious of unwrapped candy. |
