Show ' f v i , . r o FIDDLING AROUND The Suzuki method of violin is now in Davis County. It became famous in Japan, and has now spread to many other countries. The Davis County Suzuki Association was formed in 1977 to enrich children's lives through learning to play the violin by the Suzuki Method. Eleven teachers trained in the method, work together to provide activities and performance per-formance opportunities for the approximately 150 children involved in-volved in the program. DR. SHINICHI Suzuki, of Japan, developed the method some 50 years ago and named it the "mother tongue approach" because, through this method, children learn to develop musical ability the same way they learn to speak as babies. They learn through the process pro-cess of listening, imitation, repetition, re-petition, peer group, reinforcement, rein-forcement, and through working work-ing daily with a parent. ACTIVITIES include a concert con-cert performed for members of the association and other interested in-terested persons Nov. 13; a workshop in February and a large concert presented by all the children in April. Small groups of children are available to present programs for organizations in the community. com-munity. Call 376-1424 or 292-8717 292-8717 for more information. |
