Her paents are Randy and Tamara (Johnson) Vincent of Jensen. Great-grandparents are Elmer and Wanetta Caldwell. Her great-great-grandmother is Chloe Johnson of Deep Creek. Paternal grandparents are Lewis and Lola Mae Vincent of Jensen. Great-grandparents are Finnley and Bessie White of Rush Springs, Oklahoma. Also great-grandfather Les Muir of Vernal. The Swensen reunion was held July 11 at Midvale. Those attending from Vernal Ver-nal are Tad and Sharon Merkley, their daughters Karlene and Terri Ann, Glen and Charlene Merkley and sons Dale and wife Karry, Kent and his fiance Patricia Ensign, J. Arvid and Oral Merkley. Dave and Rae Clark held a family get together at the Marguerite Colton Pavilion recently so all could meet the future bride of Davie Joe Merkley. Davie Joe is the son of Janet Knudson of Vernal and Ray Merkley of Salt Lake City. There were 31 family members present for the engagement party. Cory Clark, thirteen year old son of Dave and Rae Clark, was chosen to be on the Pony League All Star team that went to Springville to play. They won and are the state champions. Ted Taylor was their coach. The Joe and Luella Merkley family reunion was held at the Merkley orchard or-chard July 16, 17 and 18. Joella and Reed Goodrich of Blackfoot, Idaho; James and Carma Walsh of Salt Lake City and Scott and Terry Woodhouse and daughter of Columbia, South Carolina were the out of two family members here for the big event. Friday night was when the brothers and sisters in the family and their husbands and wives got together. Saturday was for all the families to meet at the orchard. Scott, Terry and Jessica Woodhouse plan to stay for a two week visit with Terry's grandparents Arvid and Oral Merkley and Terry's mother Jean Merkley in Salt Lake City. Scott is serving serv-ing in the Army in Columbia, South Carolina. Clyde and Clara Hall are having visitors at their home. Clara's sister Anna and husband Donald Bench of Longview, Wash., plan to stay for two weeks. Lloyd and Raema Hatch and three daughter, Tim and Maria McDonald and daughter spent some time recently in Durant, Okla., visiting their son and brother, Gregg and family. Gregg is the assistant manager of the C. R. Anthony's An-thony's Department Store in Durant. Mrs. Don (Betty) Bowden was invited to accompany her cousin Mrs. Dick . (Jessie McConkie) Bastian on a trip to New York, Boston, Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. They saw the C. N. Tower in Toronto, the highest building in the world. More important sites they saw were the Canadian Niagara Falls, DAR Constitution Hall and the Statue of Liberty. The trip took two weeks in all. Six Uintah County school employees and their wives went to Fort Valley, Ga., to pick up six new school buses for Uintah School District. Lynn and Betty Mecham were one of these couples. They started for home and the bus Lynn was driving broke down in Independence, In-dependence, Mo. The machinist from the bus company came and fixed it. They made it to Topeka, Kan., and the bus broke down again. The machinists are working on the bus again while Betty Bet-ty and Lynn are waiting patiently to return to Vernal with a new bus. Mark and Elaine Allen started to return to their home in Corona, Calif., Saturday night. Sunday they stopped at the Payson hospital to find Mark's Dad, Marion Allen, setting in a wheel chair. It's possible he will be transferred to the Wasatch County Hospital at Heber City Wednesday or Thursday of this week. |
