U infers Ufte cogers ipocEief fthord place Uintah High School's girl hoop team captured third place in the Meeker Tournament, when they thumped Basat High School, 47 to 30, Saturday evening. The Utes jumped out to a 10 to 6 lead at the end of the first quarter and had a 20 to 12 advantage after two quarters of action. The Uintah team had only a 28 to 22 lead at the end of the third quarter, but they bombed Basat, 19 to 8, in the fourth quarter for a 47 to 30 win. Chris Mott was the number one scorer for the Utes in the game against Basat with 17 counters. Kristy McNeill fired in 13 points. Also scoring counters for Uintah were Jodene Merkley, 8; Darian Abegglen, 4; Pennie Murray, 4 and Teresa Smith, 2. The Uintah Utes tossed in 19 out of 51 field goals and. connected on 10 out of 20 free throws. . Uintah thumped Steamboat Springs in the first round, Friday evening, 47 to 35. The scores by quarters were: first quarter, Uintah 12 and Steamboat Springs, 8; second quarter. Uintah. 28 and Steamboat Springs, 18; third quarter, Uintah, 34 and Steamboat Springs, 29 and fourth quarter, Uintah, 47 and Steamboat Springs, 35. The top scorer in the game for Uintah was Darian Abegglen with 21 points.
