Show Oil and gas drilling activities in Utah Union Oil of California will drill another oil and gas test in Utah County according to Carlton Stowe, spokesman for the Utah Department of Natural Resources. The well, the No. 1-G24 I'.rown's Peak unit, will go to at least 10,000 feet to test the Chinle formation of the upper Triassic. It is 15 miles north of Fairview just northeast of the Indianola area. The well-site is 17 miles northwest of gas production in the Clear Creek gas field. Union's first well in this area, drilled a couple of years ago, was the No. 1 Federal J-9, three miles to the northwest of the latest location and about 17 miles southeast of Spanish Fork. It was abandoned at total depth of 6,625 feet without release of information. in-formation. Mr. Stowe also says that a new 7,700 foot test of the Mississippian formation will be drilled about 10 miles south of Moab by the Pool Oil & Gas Company, Denver. It is the No. 27-1A Hatch Point-Federal, Point-Federal, six miles southeast of the abandoned Cane Creek field and 11 miles southeast of the Long Canyon field. Gas was recovered on a previous test well in the area, four miles to the north. Elsewhere, Standard Energy, Salt Lake City, paid $33,990 or $53.11 an acre for 640 acres of oil and gas leases about 9 miles west of Moab at the Utah Department of Natural Resources sealed-bid sale in Salt Lake City. The tract is just south of the Long Canyon oil and gas field. The State's total offering of-fering of slightly more than 22,231 acres had bids on 18,361 acres for a total of $273,668 received. Paiute Oil & Mining is continuing its development program in the Monument Butte region some 18 to 20 miles south of Roosevelt. The Park City based company has scheduled six new test wells in the area all projected to about 6,000 feet for test of the Green River formation. Utex Oil Company, also of Salt Lake City, will drill two 13-14,000 foot tests in the Altamont area. They will be drilled to the Wasatch formation which produces oil and gas in the vicinity. |
