Show ( Voice of By Diedra Northern December's activity calendar consists con-sists of: Social Security being held Dec. 13, from 9 to 12; Blood Pressure Clinic, Dec. 17, .2 until 5 p.m.; Historical Society will meet on Dec. 12, if you are interested in historical events in the Uintah Basin, don't miss this; dinners being held every Monday at the Golden Age Center starting at 12:30, the Christmas dinner will be Dec. 17 and a special New Year's dinner will be held on Dec. 31; dinners every Wednesday at the Vernal Junior High School starting at 1 p.m.; men's pool Monday thru Saturday from 9 to 5; Bingo is played every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.; ladies pool Thursday's at 2 p.m.; dance every Friday night to the music of Newel's Harmony Four, dance starting at 9 and ending at 12. The Golden Age Center will be closed Dec. 24, 25, and 26 for the holidays. The bingo winner for the month of November was Lena Mast with 15 games, Marion Swain close behind with 14 eames. third place goes to Nola McNeil with 13 games. Winner for the week of Nov. 27 was Marion Swain with 6 games and a three way tie for second, Nola McNeil, Lena Mast and Lula Chew all with 5 games a piece. With only three weeks left for the bingo players to see which one will be 1979's bingo champion, here are the three with the most games thus far, Alice Mott with 137 games, close behind her is her sister, Lena Mast, with 134 and Vernal Gehring with 94 games. The fried chicken dinner at the Vernal Junior High School, had 76 attending. Entertaining the group was Tische McFaddin and Bonnie Howe, playing their guitars and singing. We would like to thank them for sharing their talents with us. Monday's dinner at the Center had 131, enjoying the Swiss steak dinner. Pat Stewart and Marva Lent sang Christmas carols for the crowd, these two ladies were accompanied by Melba Sergeant on the organ. On the menu for next Monday's dinner is: roast beef, potatoes and gravy; green and fruit salads; cheese plate; peas and carrots and coconut cream pie. A huge crowd attended the Friday night dance. Newcomers were, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Brough, from Randlett. Happy birthday was sung to Goldie Wilckens of Duchesne. For the dancers that would like to write to Wendell and Leola Freston their address is as follows: Box 55, Many Farms, Arizona, 86536. We would like to extend our sincere sympathy to family and friends of Mr. William Mann, who passed away Thursday night. Mr. Mann was one of the original starters of our Golden Age Center and its programs. |
