Show Former resident gains scout training award At a recent Scout Recognition Dinner, Din-ner, Acel Kent Thacker, former resident and son of Dale and Marilyn Thacker of Vernal, was awarded one of the highest training awards that can be gained in the Boy Scouts of America. The award is known as the Wood Badge and signifies the completion of a training course and a following year of practical application of that training. The award consists of a certificate, and a special neckerchief and slide. Mr. Thacker was active in Scouting in the Vernal area as a youth gaining his Eagle Scout award and serving on High Uintdh camp staffs. He is currently serving as a Scoutmaster in the Bountiful area and has been for 5 years. He also holds other Scouting awards including Scoutmaster's Key, Scouters' Training Award, Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, and Trained Scoutmaster. Mr. Thacker lives in Woods Cross with his wife, the former Pamela Angus, and their three children. He is employed at the LDS Hospital as Chemistry Supervisor. ACEL KENT THACKER receives top award. |
