Show Ashley Valley Water and Sewer District dispute To the Editor: I heard on KVEL that my concern with what I deem to be an improper election for members on the Ashley Valley Water and Sewer District were misconstrued to be a personal attack on the Chairman of that body, Lyle McKeachnie. Why any one person on that board would be conceited enough to think they would be singled out for a personal attack unless they have a guilty feeling about something, I do not understand. My concern has nothing to do with a Personal Vendetta but as a taxpayer, that Ashley Valley Water and Sewer District has voted to acquire the water service for Air Village Hills Subdivision. Sub-division. Since the 4 mils allocated from our tax dollar is taken from every taxpayer in the district I don't think it is' ethical, honorable nor moral to use it for the benefit of 20 or so families. I am extremely concerned with the iaci mai me inan man ui nsmey v aiiejr Wa'er and Sewer District is also the president and principal stock holder in General Properties Inc. which is the subdivider of Air Village Hills Subdivision. Sub-division. Mr. McKeachnie is also Chairman and prinicipal stockholder in Air Village Hills Inc. I personally could not hold a position under these circumstances cir-cumstances without having a conflict of interest According to the minutes of Ashley Valley Water and Sewer District meeting the voting on the acquisition of Air Village Hills Inc. was Neldon Slaugh, Robert Turner, and Owen Spears-yes Gilmer Chivcrs-no and Lyle McKeachnie naturally abstained. I applaud Gilrner for Ixdng the only one to hxik into the system and voting his "onv'tftions in the face of such opposition. op-position. Here again is a situation of other board rnernljers being involved with subdivisions in the District. Approximately three months ago Lyle McKeachnie in direct violation and after a letter from the city attorney notifying him of the fact, went ahead and installed water connections from Air Village Hills water supply outside the boundries of the Subdivision, thus breaching the contract with Vernal City. At the same time McKeachnie sent a letter to all residents of the Subdivision to ignore the letter from the City Attorney and in no way would he breach that contract. It appears to me that everything that has been done has been of the philosophy that if our mind can be kept on the game all of our popcorn can be eaten before we know it's gone. I believe the taxpayers had better ignore the silly personal vendetta or personal attack idea and question what is happening without their knowledge to and with their tax dollars. Everything stated in this letter is documented and I would be happy to show it to any interested taxpayer. Respectfully, Dan Coney 1660 South 3150 West Vernal, Utah |
