Show 4-year-old saved from drowning in motel pool Tragedy was narrowly averted Thursday when a four-year-old boy fell or jumped into a motel swimming pool. The boy was pulled from the pool and revived by the quick action of a motel tenant. According to Detective Robert Downard, the child, Ernest Peterson, was apparently left in the pool area unattended. He jumped into the adult depth water and went under. Diane Johnson of Salt Lake City who was also staying at the motel was alerted by her child that there was a little boy at the bottom of the pool. Mrs. Johnson ran to the pool, jumped in and pulled the child out. She gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. "He was breathing on his own when the officers and ambulance arrived," said Downard. "The quick action on the part of Mrs. Johnson undoubtedly saved the childs life," Downard added. Mrs. Johnson said Ernest was not breathing and was blue when he was pulled from the water. The child apparently suffered no complications from his ordeal. He was taken to the Uintah County Hospital and examined and released. He was staying at the motel with his grandparents grand-parents at the time of the accident.
