Show Camaro smashed in high-speed chase Friday Friday a high-speed chase resulted in the arrest of two young Vernal men and approximately $1,000 damage to a 1969 Chevorlet Camaro, two-door. The vehicle driven by Kenneth Joe Batty, 18 was traveling at a high rate of speed along 1500 West pursued by local officers. It passed a stop sign at 500 South and 1500 West and the driver attempted to make a right hand turn, failing to negotiate the turn struck a fence and came to rest against a tree. According to a report by investigating in-vestigating officer Trooper Clayton Allred, Batty and his 18 year old companion, Jeff McLean fled the vehicle on foot but were apprehended by a county deputy and Vernal city police officer. No injuries were sustained by the occupants. Damage to the vehicle grill, bumper, and front were estimated at $1,000. Approximately 19 bottles of beer were confiscated from the trunk of the vehicle. Batty was charged with Driving Under the Influence. |
