Show New Face Of Girl Scouting GIRL SCOUTS A new emblem has been launched by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. for its more than three million members. It's a distinctive distinc-tive three-profile silhouette of stylized girls' faces, underscored under-scored by the words "Girl Scouts." The dramatically modern redoing re-doing of the traditional Girl Scout trefoil symbol is designed to reinforce the female focus of Girl Scouting, while retaining retain-ing the basic three leaf clover shape. The new logotype was created for Girl Scouts by Saul BassHerb Yager & Associates, Inc., the internationally famous fa-mous design firm responsible for corporate identity programs pro-grams for AT&T, Alcoa, and United Airlines among others. Introduction of the new emblem em-blem is a first step in a campaign cam-paign to acquaint the public with the new face of Girl Scouting. An opinion survey conducted for Girl Scouts by The Roper Organization, Inc., in 1977 showed that while a large majority of the nation has an excellent opinion of Girl Scouting, not enough is known about the wider variety vari-ety of opportunities its program pro-gram offers girls today, particularly par-ticularly in such areas as career exploration and development, develop-ment, and community service. Girl Scouts of the UJS.A. is the world's largest voluntary organization for girls. Q |
