Show Self-esteem conference scheduled for April 2-3 The Davis County Council on Infants, In-fants, Children and Youth is presenting presen-ting its 3rd Annual Conference for Educators and Parents on Enhancing Enhanc-ing Self -Esteem on April 2-3. The conference will open Thursday Thurs-day evening with a workshop for parents. The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Davis High School cafeteria. A discussion session will be held following the one-hour presentation. pre-sentation. Thursday evening's event is free to the general public. Friday's presentations and discussions are open to educators and staff interested in improving children's achievement and performance perfor-mance through building self-esteem. self-esteem. Dr. Michele Borba, a board member on the National Council on S elf-Esteem, will present "Improving Student Achievement and Behavior Through Building Self Esteem" for educators and staff at the elementary school level. Her presentation begins at 9 a.m. in the Davis High School cafeteria. Borba is a highly-acclaimed expert ex-pert on self-esteem enhancement who has traveled throughout the United States and Canada presenting presen-ting in-services, keynotes and seminars sem-inars for more than 50,000 educators. Constance H. Dembrowsky, president of Affective Skill Development, De-velopment, an international consulting con-sulting firm, will speak on 'Personal and Social Responsibility: Responsibili-ty: Improving the Academic Performance Per-formance of Adolescents Through Self -Esteem Enhancement. ' This presentation will begin at 9 a.m. at the Kaysville Junior High cafeteria. Dembrowsky was the founding, president of the National Council for Self-Esteem. Her professional career includes extensive teaching and administrative experience at the elementary, secondary and university univer-sity levels in various parts of the United States and the Orient. Friday s events are free to educators and staff. Lunch is included. |
