Show Centennial commission urged Davis County residents are being urged to establish an officially sanctioned sanc-tioned county centennial commission. commis-sion. The centennial commissioners will work with local county commissioners, com-missioners, mayors, town councils and other community leaders to es tablish projects and citizen activity at a grass-roots level to participate in the Utah Statehood Centennial. "To the largest majority of Utah's two million citizens, commemorating com-memorating the centennial of our statehood will be something that happens to them, rather than something they initiate," explained a spokesperson for the Utah Statehood Centennial Commission. ' ' However, given this state 's reputation for volunteerism, we think numerous people can be encouraged en-couraged to serve in a local capacity, capaci-ty, planning and carrying out the programs dear to their hearts, the best kind." Centennial funds for county committees will become available as early as mid-year of 1992. However, participants are encouraged en-couraged to start now by collecting names of local people who will serve.
